What is Polycarbonate Film (PC Film)?

Polycarbonate film (PC film) is made by extruding polycarbonate plastic into thin sheets to create a film. Polycarbonate plastic itself is well-known as a colorless, transparent engineering plastic with excellent impact resistance, even at temperatures as low as -40°C. It also boasts good heat resistance, dimensional stability, and superior creep characteristics.

Polycarbonate films are used in a wide range of applications, including consumer electronics, displays, automotive parts, optical components, and construction materials.

Sumika Acryl Sales Co., Ltd. “Technoloy PC Film”

The high-quality polycarbonate-based films sold by Sumika Acryl Sales are trusted by many users. These films are used for a variety of applications, including surface materials for automotive interiors, mobile phones, home appliances, building materials, and display/media-related products.

Additionally, the Technoloy® C001 and C003 PMMA/PC composite films combine acrylic and polycarbonate to compensate for the disadvantages of the relatively soft polycarbonate surface.

AGC Inc. “Carboglass Film”

AGC Inc.’s Carboglass Film is a polycarbonate film with excellent impact resistance and flame retardancy. Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd. “Polyca Ace Agricultural Film”

The polycarbonate film produced by Sumitomo Bakelite is a highly impact-resistant agricultural polycarbonate film. It retains the excellent features of Polyca Ace, such as high transparency and superior impact resistance, in film form.

This film is primarily used for agricultural applications, including cladding and covering materials for greenhouses. The standard size is 1050 mm × 50 m rolls, available in thicknesses of 0.45 mm and 0.7 mm, both in transparent color.

Covestro “Makrofol” and “Bayfol”

Makrofol® is Covestro’s brand of thermoplastic polycarbonate films, known for their excellent properties such as heat resistance, wide temperature elasticity, rigidity, electrical insulation, abrasion resistance, weather resistance, and chemical resistance. These films are available in transparent, translucent, and opaque varieties, with a product lineup tailored to various applications. They are widely used in automotive, optical, construction, and printing applications.

Bayfol® is a blended film produced by Covestro, combining polycarbonate with other engineering thermoplastic resins. Common blends include polycarbonate/polyester and polycarbonate/PBT. Bayfol® demonstrates excellent characteristics such as moldability and chemical resistance, making it suitable for a variety of demanding applications.
